WILLINGTON GRAVEL PITS A drake Green Winged Teal was found here yesterday-8th Feb- and was watched from Platform 1 swimming towards Platform 4 and later seen from Platform 4. The bird was still present this morning-9th Feb-from platform 4. Access is extremely difficult and Wellingtons and possibly waterproof leggings/trousers are reported to be essential. Water level in the lane is very high and access only possible through the workings to the concrete blocks. This is the 16th County record and the 2nd this winter after the Carsington Water bird last October. Also 3 Pintail here on 9th Feb.
OGSTON RESERVOIR 2 adult Mediterranean Gulls roosted on 5th Feb with 4 adults roosting 6/7/8th Feb. An adult Kittiwake flew NE at 10.05 a.m. on 6th Feb and 2 adults roosted on 8th Feb. An Oystercatcher on 5th Feb with a 2nd winter Yellow Legged Gull and a Merlin on 8th Feb.
CARSINGTON WATER The adult Great Northern Diver still present on 6th Feb along with a drake Scaup,1 Shelduck, 48 Snipe, 1 Oystercatcher, 1 Redshank. In the Gull roost 2 adult Mediterranean Gulls and 1000+ Common Gulls.

ASTON-ON-TRENT GRAVEL PITS On 6th Feb 1 Little Grebe, 14 Great Crested Grebes, 12 Cormorants, 8 Grey Herons, 12 Grey Lag Geese, 5 Shelduck, c180 Wigeon, 16 Gadwall, c205 Teal, 16 Shoveler, 4 Pochard, 122 Tufted Duck, 8 Goldeneye, 3 Goosander, 1 Green Sandpiper, 16 Common Gulls, 3 Great Black Backed Gulls and 2 Stock Doves.
WESTON GRANGE FARM On 6th Feb 1 Little Grebe, 2 Stock Doves, c250 Fieldfares, c100 Redwing, 1 Mistle Thrush, 1 Jay, c125 Starlings and 4 Goldfinches.
FOREMARK RESERVOIR On 7th Feb 3 Little Grebes, 37 Great Crested Grebes, 10 Cormorants, 1 Tufted Duck, 1 Goosander. I the Gull Roost c10,000 Black Headed Gulls including a leucistic ad., c500 Common Gulls, c2000 Lesser Black Backed Gulls, c400 Herring Gull including a partial leucistic adult, 3 Yellow Legged Gulls-ad, 2 Caspian Gulls-an ad. And a 2nd winter, 1 Glaucous x Herring Gull hybrid imm and c100 Great Black Backed Gulls.
AMBASTON GRAVEL PITS On 8th Feb 1 Little Grebe, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 5 Cormorants, 1 Grey Heron, 15 Tufted Duck, 1 Common Buzzard, 1 Snipe, 1 Redshank,6 Sky Larks, 1 Meadow Pipit, c80 Fieldfares, c20 Redwings and c140 Starlings.
CROMFORD AREA No sign of any Hawfinches in strong windy conditions with rain on 9th Feb but 1 Tree Creeper.
