CARSINGTON WATER The adult Great Northern Diver still present on 17th Nov. 4 Bewick’s Swans-2 ads and 2 juvs-on 15th Nov and 2 Kittiwakes roosted on 11th Nov. Also on 17th Nov a Little Grebe at Sheepwash which was caught and killed by “Brutus” the ad. Yellow Legged Gull-not a pretty sight, 32 Great Crested Grebes, 20 Cormorants, 1 Grey Heron, 56 Wigeon, 78 Teal, 355 Pochard. 291 Tufted Duck, 3 Goldeneye, 1 Common Buzzard, c310 Lapwing, 1 Redshank, 3 Common Gulls, 161 Lessser Black Backed Gulls, 5 Herring Gulls, 3 ad. Yellow Legged Gull and 5 Tree Sparrows
OGSTON RESERVOIR A female/imm. Common Scoter on 13th Nov.
WRAGGS QUARRY The Great Grey Shrike still present on 15th Nov
PARSLEY HAY A Great Grey Shrike on 15th Nov.
CROMFORD AREA 1 Hawfinch at the entrance to Willersley Castle on 15th Nov.
WHOOPER SWANS The party of 5 were still at Kedleston Park on 15th Nov and a party of 5-presumably the same- were at Allestree Park on 16th Nov.
LINACRE RESERVOIR A report of a drake Scaup-or possibly a hybrid-at 8.00.a.m. on 17th Nov.
LONG EATON GRAVEL PITS On 12th Nov 3 Little Grebes, 36 Great Crested Grebes, 3 Cormorants, 1 Little Egret, 5 Grey Herons, 2 Egyptian Geese, 3 Wigeon, 16 Gadwall, 6 Teal, 2 Shoveler, 37 Pochard, 110 Tufted Duck, 1 Kestrel, 1 Green Sandpiper, 1 Common Gull and c225 Starlings flying West
CHURCH WILNE RESERVOIR On 12th Nov 6 Little Grebes, 23 Great Crested Grebes, 22 Cormorants, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Wigeon, 8 Gadwall, 19 Pochard, 248 Tufted Duck, 3 Goldeneye, 209 Coot and 2 Common Gulls.
FOREMARK RESERVOIR A Red Kite on 11th Nov. On 14th Nov 2 Goldeneye. On 13th Nov 1 Little Grebe, 23 Great Crested Grebe, 12 Cormorants, 1 Grey Heron, 205 Tufted Duck, 14 Goosander, 57 Coot, In the Gull roost were c20,000 Black Headed Gulls, c200 Common Gulls, c2100 Lesser Black Backed Gulls, c190 Herring Gulls, 5 Yellow Legged Gulls-all ads, 1 Caspian Gull-ad and c160 Great Black Backed Gulls.
WILLINGTON GRAVEL PITS On 14th Nov 13 Great Crested Grebes, 12 Cormorants, 2 Little Egrets, 2 Grey Herons, 19 Wigeon, 8 Gadwall, 21 Teal, 2 Shoveler, 9 Pochard, 7 Tufted Duck, 1 Sparrowhawk, 3 Common Buzzards, 1 Water Rail, 1 Common Gull, 1 Great Black Backed Gull, 1 Cettis Warbler, c205 Starlings flying West and a Bullfinch.
