CARSINGTON WATER 2 Bonxies found this morning-11th Oct-by Dave Newcombe. They were present from 11.20-11.40 before flying off SW. This is about the 25th county record and the second from this site in the last three/four weeks. Brought in by the strong NE winds on the East Coast with other birds seen inland in the Midlands and Yorkshire. Also currently plenty of Gannets moving inland with at least 6 over Rutland Water, 1 at Eye Brook Reservoir and good numbers moving West in South Yorkshire. The Garganey was last seen here on 3rd October along with 4 Pintail and an Oystercatcher, 2 Ringed Plover and 2 Yellow Legged Gulls.

WILLINGTON GRAVEL PITS On 11th Oct 1 Black Tailed Godwit and a near ad. Yellow Legged Gull, 50 Redwing on 10th Oct and 3 Pintail and a Black Tailed Godwit on 8th Oct.

STAUNTON HAROLD RESERVOIR Still 2 Yellow Legged Gulls-an ad and a 3rd winter bird on-on 11th Oct. with 7 Yellow Legged Gulls roosting on 7th Oct.

OGSTON RESERVOIR A Rock Pipit on 3rd Oct.

DARLEY DALE 6 Fieldfare flew SE on 7th Oct.

DRAKELOW DWT RESERVE 19 Little Egrets roosted on 6th Oct with 15 on 7/9th Oct. with 50 Shoveler, a Pintail, a Green Sandpiper and 10 Golden Plover flying West on 6th Oct. Still 50 Shoveler on 7/9th Oct with 3 Pintail on 7th Oct. A Stonechat on 6th Oct.

RAMSLEY RESERVOIR 6 Whooper Swans flew over on 10th Oct.

LONG EATON GRAVEL PITS 3 Green Sandpipers on 8/10th Oct. On 9th Oct 4 Little Grebes, 44 Great Crested Grebes, 9 Cormorants, 2 Grey Herons, 2 Egyptian Geese, 2 Wigeon, 2 Gadwall, 8 Teal, 6 Shoveler, 4 Pochard and 148 Tufted Duck. A skein of 55 Grey Geese, almost certainly Pink Feet flew through on the same date.

CHURCH WILNE RESERVOIR On 9th Oct 3 Little Grebes, 32 Great Crested Grebes, 22 Cormorants, 1 Grey Heron, 5 Grey Lag Geese, 125 Canada Geese, 1 hybrid Grey Lag x Canada cross, 5 Gadwall, 15 Pochard, 238 Tufted Duck, 1 Common Buzzard, 1 Kestrel, 1 Hobby and 183 Coot.

ST CHADS WATER On 9th Oct 1 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Cormorants and 29 Tufted Duck.
