HONEY BUZZARD Pager reports of one over Shillito Wood, Leash Fen on 9th Aug and another near 3 Shires Head on the Derbyshire/Staffordshire/Cheshire border on 14th Aug. If any observers have any info on these two sightings details would be gratefully received by the undersigned.
MARSH HARRIER A fem/imm flew through Carr Vale DWT Reserve on 15th Aug and what was presumably the same bird flew over Pleasley Colliery later the same morning.
HEN HARRIER A juv. was reported to have flown over Ingleby Toft during the evening of 13th Aug. An exceptionally early record.
WYVER LANE DWT RESERVE A Whinchat has been here from 7-19th Aug.
OGSTON RESERVOIR A fem/imm Common Scoter on 4thy Aug with an Arctic Tern on 15th Aug.
WILLINGTON GRAVEL PITS Up to 3 Little Egrets here recently along with a Black Tailed Godwit on 19th Aug and a Greenshank and a Green Sandpiper on 17th Aug.
MIDDLETON MOOR 8 Ringed Plover on 13th Aug.
RED KITES Single birds over Draycott on 3rd Aug and Swadlincote on 18th Aug.
AMBASTON GRAVEL PITS A Little Egret on 7/14th Aug with 3 Snipe on 7th Aug and 6 on 14th Aug. 2 Green Sandpipers on 7th Aug.
ASTO-ON-TRENT GRAVEL PITS Yellow Legged Gulls have peaked at 12 on 4th Aug with 11 on 5th Aug and 7 on 15th Aug-all were adults apart from 1 first summer bird. Equally Caspian Gulls peaked at 5 on 5th Aug-2 ads, 2 third summers and a 1st summer with 5 again on 9th Aug-4 ads and a 3rd summer and 4 on 15th Aug-3 ads and a third summer. Up to 7 Little Egrets have been here as well as a family party of 6 Shelduck including 4 fledged juvs on 1st Aug along with a juv. Peregrine Falcon., a Common Sandpiper and 2 Ravens on 4th Aug, 3 Egyptian Geese on 9th Aug and a Kingfisher on 15th Aug.
LONG EATON GRAVEL PITS 4 Egyptian Geese on 20th Aug.
CHURCH WILNE RESERVOIR The moulting flock of Tufted Duck has built up to 376 on 20th Aug along with just 1 Pochard. Two juv Grey Wagtails on 13th Aug with an ad. on 20th Aug.
STAUNTON HAROLD RESERVOIR Up to 3 Little Egrets and one/two ad. Yellow Legged Gulls here recently.

Just over the County boundary at Broomhead Reservoir NW of Sheffield a small flock of up to 8/9 Two Barred Crossbills have been present since 12th Aug. The flock consists of an ad male, an ad female and 5/6 juvs. Also present up to 120 Crossbills.
