WILLINGTON—REPTON The family party of 7 Bewick’s Swans still present on 18th Feb in flooded fields just East of the road. Parking is best in Repton and walk back for these birds.
CARR VALE DWT RESERVE On 17th Feb 74 Whooper Swans flew North in 2 parties and also a Red Kite seen.
DEEP WATER PIT, STEETLEY QUARRY The Velvet Scoter still present here on 16th Feb. It is now thought to be a first winter female because of the lack of yellow on the bill.
CARSINGTON WATER Still 3 Great Northern Divers off Stones Island on 17th Feb. A Mediterranean Gull roosted on 15th Feb.
LOCKO PARK LAKE The adult drake Smew still present on 15th Feb but no sign on 16th Feb although the female Goosander and 87 Grey Lag Geese present.
OGSTON RESERVOIR The Red Necked Grebe was last seen on 14th Feb.. A Little Egret flew NW on 15th Feb, 2 Oystercatchers from 16-18th Feb, 2 Ringed Plovers on 17th Feb. On 18th Feb 3 Bewick’s Swans circled the res several times nid morning before leaving to the East and 13 Whooper Swans arrived from the SE early afternoon and again circled the res. several times before leaving to the SW.
EREWASH MEADOWS DWT RESERVE A Great Grey Shrike on the North Marsh on 17th Feb.
WRAGGS QUARRY The long staying Great Grey Shrike still present on 17th Feb.
FOREMARK RESERVOIR A juv. Glaucous Gull roosted on 15th Feb with the usual adult Glaucous Gull and a Mediterranean Gull roosting on 17th Feb. 2 Shelduck on 16th Feb.
STAUNTON HAROLD RESERVOIR 2 Shelduck on 16th Feb with an ad. Yellow Legged Gull on 16/17th Feb.
WYVER LANE DWT RESERVE Still up to 2 Bitterns here on 16th Feb.
EREWASH M EADOWS A Jack Snipe and a Stonechat on 16th Feb.
AMBASTON GRAVEL PITS A report of a Bittern here on 15th Feb but no sign at all of the 2 “redhead” Smew on 17th Feb, only 64 Wigeon, 9 Gadwall and 4 Shoveler here along with c15 Siskin.
DRAKELOW DWT RESERVE A Ruff and 4 Ringed Plover on 17th Feb.
WAXWINGS Still 80 in Belper by Morrisons/MacDonalds on 15th Feb. In Buxton up to 18 on Dale Road near St. Marys Church with 16 still present in Heath Street on 17th Feb. A small flock of 10 in the Derby Meteor Centre on 16th Feb,10 in Littleover on Crich Avenue by Crich Close and 34 in Shelton Lock on Chadwick Avenue both on 16th Feb. At Wyver Lane DWT Reserve 24 were by the hide on 15th Feb with 15 at Walton on the same date.

Please note that access to the Trent Valley Gravel Pits has been difficult due to flooding.
